Frequently Asked Questions
Difference between IPv4 and IPv6?
IPv4 is the 32-bit original format (192.168.1.1) with ~4 billion addresses (exhausted). IPv6 is the 128-bit newer format with 340 undecillion addresses. Most devices today have both.
Why does my IP show the wrong city?
IP geolocation is estimated. Your ISP may have registered their IP block at headquarters in a different city. VPNs show the VPN server location.
Can websites see my IP?
Yes — every website visit exposes your public IP to that server. Websites may log IPs for analytics, security and fraud prevention.
Will a VPN hide my real IP?
Yes — websites see the VPN server's IP, not yours. Your VPN provider can still see your real IP, so choose a reputable no-logs VPN.
What is a private IP address?
192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x — used within your local network. Not visible on the public internet. Your router translates them to your single public IP via NAT.
